Very admirable, especially since he would have been 22 when his mother died. So where was the father?

Having to use two lifelines on a first-tier question is rough. And what was with the audience making 1980 the second choice with 42%? Yes, I know it ends in zero, but still, has everyone forgotten the big discussions about what to name this decade?

He still has his ATE, but I think it will be difficult for him to make it to the third tier, which is a shame.

That was weird. The only thing I could possibly think of is that some people thought that "aught" was a weird pronunciation of "eight".

I don't think that Aaron will be around much longer. He has only one lifeline left, and he's only at $4,000.

If every teacher has earned a ticket to the Hot Seat, aren't there a few from the rest of the country waiting for their turn?

It is a shame. Given his circumstances, I was hoping he could get to some bigger money.

Watching this contestant was like watching my father in the hotseat. Just like my father and Aaron he used ATA and double dip on the $1,000 question. And they also used a lifeline on the $2,000 question. At least my father was able to win $16,000.

I've never heard any real discussions about this - just media puzzlement about what to do. The Economist (magazine) had an editorial back in 1999 suggesting it be called the "noughties", which is clever and what I use. I've only heard "aughts" used once or twice - most media references I've heard either call it the "two thousands" or "the first decade of the 21st century".

A shame that a good portion of the audience hadn't heard the term either, or couldn't remember that "aught" refers to zero.
