The French from France really got into the machine age.....

B - Composer Arthur Honneger wrote in 1923 a piece called "Pacific 231" or "Mouvement Symphonique #1". Inspired by

1 - An airplane
2 - A railway locomotive
3 - A long-distance telephone call
4 - A fast passenger ship

G - Inspired by the simple beauty of the industrial age, this company's "signature" products were simply named "5" and "17". (Plus the name of the company...)

well. lets wrap up.

Pacific 231 is inspired by a railway locomotive.

The confusing thing, maybe, is that in Europe steam locos were classified by the number of wheels on one side, but in North America the reference was o both sides.

counting the small wheels at the front, then the driving wheels. then the small wheels under the cab.

so Pacific 231 in France would be a 4-6-2 in North America. I think also Pacific is a reference to Canadian Pacific which built hundreds, but I am not sure.

And of course, Chanel.

Gotta be the ship.

Chanel perfume. Every woman alive wants Chanel #5.

Hmm. I have of course heard of Chanel No. 5 but dint know about 17.

Never wore either, y'know!

Although, considering how badly I stunk up the joint with my answers, I should probably slap on a little aftershave.

Or at least break out the Glade...
