Nice fake explanation for the extra day, Meredith. Why not just admit that, unlike the extra contestants on other special weeks, you can't bring yourself to just send a celebrity home?

Despite Drew's earlier evaluation in the spoiler thread, Peter just seemed to get a cream puff stack, up to question nine. Even he couldn't believe how easy some of these questions were. Initials in alphabetical order? Really!?

I'd have needed the ATA for Oprah, then I'd have jumped the Moonwalk and Beanie Baby questions, to take a look at the $500K question.

The $100k question was solveable. Jackie O. worked as a book editor for one of the major publishing houses for a while. --Bob

I guess it wasn't "must see TV" or else they'd have attached it to today's show.

I would have been torn between B and D, so it's time to ATA.

A second-tier question at last! Given the lifelines, I'd JTQ this one. My thought was A, just because it seems like the most absurd choice. And I thought the book came out after Jackie died, so it couldn't have been her.

D. Nibble the Bunny

This would be an easy question for a Google PAF, but since that's no longer available, I think I JTQ on this one also, so I can at least look at the $500K question.

And such is the state of the show, after the first two weeks of the season, that this milestone earned a standing ovation.

Same here. I loved when after his third softball, Peter Gallagher is like "Am I missing something here?". It's refreshing to see a celebrity actually smart enough to realize his intelligence is being insulted.

I wonder if it is generally true that the last contestant on the last day, in a special week, or in this case a special week plus one, gets slightly easier questions...Not that I would have known either the beanie baby question or the MJ question. I probably would have skipped to the 500 grand question, but I am sure that question would have been impossibly difficult as well.

Can any other Qrank players confirm my memory that the Michael Jackson question was used a couple of days ago?

Nope

I knew the answer to the Beanie Baby question. It was part of a trivia quiz I wrote.

Didn't see it myself. Unless they put it in the easiest tier (unlikely but not impossible) and I didn't play the question, I don't think it was there.

I deduced (blind lucked?) my answer of Jackie O. because of JFK's promise to get to the moon by the end of the '60s. I didn't see any other simple connections with her or anyone else so that was where I would've gone. Has anyone read it and know what her connection was?

And if Peter got that question wrong he would've dropped to what? $25,000?

I think someone had the answer earlier -- Jackie worked as a book editor the last few years of her life. I believe she worked until she was too ill to continue. I wouldn't have hesitated on that one.

After she died, one of her old friends mentioned a book he had always intended to write. He kept bringing it up with Jackie, who finally said, "Let's not talk any more about that book you're not going to write."
