Stamp Question

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed May 08, 2024 7:00 am

I've got a question that's been bugging me for a while. I get emails all the time from companies offering to sell me stamps at highly discounted prices. Today, I got one that had 1000 forever stamps from 2017 for $169. Now, I understand that if you buy forever stamps and hold them long enough, you can make a profit by selling them for more than you paid and less than current market price. But in 2017, stamps were 47 cents, and they are now 68 cents. This company is offering to sell me a large roll (while supplies last) for 17 cents a stamp.

Can this possibly be legitimate? If so, how do they do it? Do they buy in bulk from bankruptcy sales of small businesses? Or is this just another form of a grift?

Wow. Just discovered the character sequence g-e-t causes an internal error. I hope I don't forg et that.

No. Not legitimate. USPS does not discount those stamps.

This is 1 or more of 4 possibilities:

1) You send money and never g et anything
2) You send money and g et counterfeit or fake stamps
3) You send money and g et stolen stamps
4) You get phised and your information including payment info is sold to others

You all had almost talked me out of ordering, but today I got a special promotional code from them giving me an extra 10% off on my first order.

That did it. I'm in.

Let me know which of the four scenarios it is.

I will never live long enough to use 100, let alone 1000 stamps.

I see these ads on EvilFacebook. I've tried reporting them, but I'm never allowed to use my own words to actually tell them what the problem is, I can only select from a limited set of checkbox options. And then the algorithm looks at the ad and decides that there are no bad words or bad images in the ad...looks perfectly legit to us!

I saw one on EFB that has the USPS trademark logo. Tell the postal inspector who can threaten them with federal charges.
