Lyrically Speaking - 2/12/24

A someone let slip last week who has unauthorized access to the Meister's secret LSWE files, today's Sesame Street Monday game is brought to you by the letter G. All of the odd numbered songs have G titles, and all of the even numbered songs are by G artists. Ain't nothing but a G thang, or maybe G string....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Drop a dime before I walk away.
Any song you want I'll gladly play.
Money feeds my music machine.

2. I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

3. People came from miles around
Everyone was there
Yoko brought her walrus
There was magic in the air

4. You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends

5. You say that you love me (Say you love me)
All of the time (All of the time)
You say that you need me (Say you need me)
You'll always be mine (Always be mine)

6. Anybody here see the noise, see the fear and commotion
I think we missed it

7. I solve my problems, and I see the light
We got a lovin' thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go too far
We start believing now that we can be who we are

8. I got a little change in my pocket goin' jing-a-ling-a-ling
Wants to call you on the telephone baby, a-give you a ring

9. But don't be fooled by the radio
The TV or the magazines
Show you photographs of how your life should be
But they're just someone else's fantasy

10. Been running so fast
Right from the starting line
No more connections
I don't need any more advice

11. She's your adolescent dream
Schoolboy stuff, a sticky sweet romance
And she makes you want to scream
Wishing you could get inside her pants

12. But now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist where either one starts with the letter G (5 points if BOTH begin with G).

Image Bonus: This week's Image Bonus is sponsored by the letter G...

God Bless the USA - Lee Greenwood

I know I was trying to stick with songs I own, but this has two advantages over Goodbye to You (my first thought), 1. Double krox (legit this time!) 2. the C&W krox will piss off lb, but rules is rules and he has to give me full credit. Although I don't own it (I actually can't stand this song), I did see it performed live. Yep, Lee Greenwood and Sylvia were the opening acts for Conway Twitty. Yes, you heard that right, I paid money and drove to Denver with my girlfriend to see Conway Fucking Twitty at Big Mac. I don't remember the year, but I think it was in February or March because I'd given up drinking for Lent and it was on a Sunday so I could drink. I was so proud of myself for just getting to the point all this game and look what just happened....

We got a lovin' thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go too far
We start believing now that we can be who we are
Grease - Franki Valli (Thrown in just because Frank hated it so much last time I used it. When we were going through our post-fire phase at work in the summer of 2019, this was a nearly nightly earworm just after lunch hour...)

Just a note that I did accept Weasel's Krox that reused Peter Gabriel, as I figure going for a double is difficult enough to waive the "don't reuse an artist" Krox rule...

Sorry, I was in a big rush to get it in before the deadline, and I thought the caption would transfer with the image. It was a ridiculous article from Teen Vogue called "Get the Grunge aesthetic like Kylie Jenner..."

I thought that Kurt Cobain is spinning in his grave.

Google Images spit it out as 'Grungecore," then I thought, "That's grunge?!?!?" Kylie needs to stick with her fake Bratz friends....
