Actor best known for his long-running role as Doug Williams on Days of Our Lives. He appeared in that role on and off from 1970 until 2023. He met his longtime wife Susan Seaforth (Hayes) on the show, and the two married in real life as well as on the show a couple of years later. Before appearing on the soap opera, he was a singer best known for his 50s #1 hit, The Ballad of Davy Crockett. Hayes and his wife are the only soap opera actors to appear on the cover of Time Magazine.
