Some internet friends at Frontier Partisans and Running Iron Report are putting together an independent film project about the life of Len Babb.

The above link has a trailer for those interested.

This link has more background on the project.

Having just driven through some of the cow counties of Nevada-the landscape means a little more now.

If you are interested and as time permits-some of the podcasts at RIR may prove of interest to you.

I have to catch up on them again-usually a winter time deal-but IIRC-the Rick Steber one was good as was the Jack McGowan one.

Interestingly, subject Chris Converse is some sort of Nevada cowgirl-math person. Also subject author Larry Len Peterson has done a lot with western art.

Subject Greg Walker is a warrior poet-a major theme at Frontier Partisans and Running Iron Report.

Some might be interested in JimC's commentary on the Mattias Tannhauser novels by Tim Willocks. His commentary seems even more spot on now after the mass protests and riots. As I read it again, I had to continually remind myself that Jim wrote this prior to the George Floyd stuff.

>>>"Willocks gets to the heart of a question that Rullman and I have wrestled with since before The Running Iron Report was launched — indeed, this matter is central to the reason we created this blog in the first place. When we’ve given up on the Empire of Nothing, into what social unit should we invest our faith, trust, love and effort?<<<<

>>>"Mattias Tannhauser is a man of his time — the brawling, burgeoning, expansive, curiously free era of the Renaissance — and a hero for our time. We can take inspiration from his Story, learn from his dark, heroic path in the world.

Put no faith in political saviors; trust not in institutions co-opted and corrupted by the mighty. Take care of your family — blood kin and found. Know your dearest friends — and what, for their good, you are willing to do."<<<<
