This is something called Meshes of the Afternoon directed by Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid. And since there are a number of less obscure "afternoon" films Frank could have used, I'm guessing that this film is here for a match with "meshes."

It's not technically a match, but I'm guessing that Roman Polanski (Chinatown) goes with Spartacus.
Bong Joon Ho (Parasite) goes with Up in Smoke
And I have a bone to pick with Frank's comment on this one. He said that it didn't matter which Cheech and Chong movie we selected, but only this one works with Bong.

I think that Penny Marshall goes with Lincoln rather than (Color of) Money or (Fistful of) Dollars.

Looks like he had the nickname "Wild Bill" Wellman. That could go with 92. All Quiet on the WESTERN front.... maybe.

You mean Cheech and Chong made movies that
weren't stoner movies?
This is the one I thought would give it away if people started listing the directors of the various movies.

You've got "Wild" Bill Wellman and "Savage" Steve Holland (Better off Dead). I'm guessing one of them goes with The Howling, probably Wellman.
Dr. No was directed by Terence Young, which probably goes with Little Children

All Quiet on the Western Front was directed by Lewis Milestone. What director's name could be a milestone?
I realize Chinatown's Roman Polanski goes Spartacus but I would love to match him with Butthead.
Also, Henry V was directed by Laurence Olivier. You put oliviers in drinks. Can he go with Cocktail?

A milestone could be a turning point. Although I don't think it's what Frank had in mind, because he mentioned needed the right movie for #87.
Unless that was in reference to putting oliviers in your cocktails.
