Beginning this season, assuming there is a season as scheduled. Under this scenario, there would be two tripleheaders on wildcard weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 9 and 10, 2021. Only the top-seeded team in each conference would get a bye, and the remaining matchups would 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5 (with the three division champions hosting the games). If this scenario had been in effect last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams would have made the playoffs.
