Richard Burr Takes Republicans to New Low

Even by Republican standards, this is lower than low, thanks to Senator Richard Burr. In public:
Richard Burr on Fox News 2/4/20 wrote:Thankfully, the United States today is better prepared than ever before to face emerging public health threats, like the coronavirus, in large part due to the work of the Senate Health Committee, Congress, and the Trump Administration. The work of Congress and the administration has allowed U.S. public health officials to move swiftly and decisively in the last few weeks.

No matter the outbreak or threat, Congress and the federal government have been vigilant in identifying gaps in its readiness efforts and improving its response capabilities. The public health preparedness and response framework that Congress has put in place and that the Trump Administration is actively implementing today is helping to protect Americans. Over the years, this framework has been designed to be flexible and innovative so that we are not only ready to face the coronavirus today but new public health threats in the future.
Richard Burr 3/3/20 wrote:As North Carolina responds to its first reported case of coronavirus, my number one priority remains protecting public health and safety. The U.S. is in a better position than any other nation to handle a public health emergency like coronavirus. But Congress must continue working to make sure first responders have the resources they need and the federal government is using all the tools at its disposal to stem the problem. I will continue working with federal, state, and local officials to ensure they have the support they need to protect North Carolina families and communities.
In private to wealthy Republican donors:
Richard Burr 2/27/20 wrote:There's one thing I can tell you about this, it is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything we have seen in recent history. It's probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic.
Meanwhile, on February 13, Burr sold between $600K and $1.7 million of stock, much of it in the travel and hospitality industries, in 33 separate transactions. This occurred one week before the stock market began its current dive. I eagerly await Flock's claims that Chuck Schumer and Adam Schiff are much, much worse.

Members of Congress don't break the law by doing insider trading --- because Congress said they can --- but in this case, he told a lot of his friends about what was going to happen; they can be accused of insider trading.

The Daily Beast wrote:Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) reported the first sale of stock jointly owned by her and her husband on Jan. 24, the very day that her committee, the Senate Health Committee, hosted a private, all-senators briefing from administration officials, including the CDC director and Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institutes of Health of the United States, on the coronavirus.

The Swamp. Rest assured they are not the only ones. And you want Washington to control even more. Everything you post shows how little you understand me. I've been telling you that for years, but you're happy in your little hateful bubble.

The Swamp is bad, but you're convinced that Donald Trump is the man to clear it up while you rail on and on about Schiff and Schumer. And while you get a steady stream of information from Fox, Brietbart, and the like, or your favorite, some guy who posts on Facebook who gets his information from Fox, Breitbart and the like.

I would much rather have people who are voted into office running things instead of corporations who answer to their stockholders. That means we have to stop corporate money from being injected into political campaigns.

Yes. Running things based on the Constitution. The Constitution tells them only what they CAN run. It also tells them what they need to leave to the States and to the people. The swamp ignores the latter. It is an important distinction that shallow observations like the one above does not take into account, to the detriment of us all.
Corporations are groups of people banded together to produce a product or service that society deems to be of value. Yes, they answer to stockholders, but ultimately they answer to the people. They could not exist without support from the people who purchase their goods or services. Unless they purchase protection.
The major problem, as I see it, is the collusion between the swamp and corporations to pick winners and losers to the benefit of the swamp. The Swamp, by my definition, is corrupt office holders, their staff and corrupt members of the unelected bureaucracy. It doesn't include most government workers, but there are plenty of swamp dwellers. They can be of any political affiliation. And they are very good at protecting themselves.
All I can do is ask you to ponder that. That includes bobby and SSS. Responding with false assumptions about the flockofseagulls strawman you have concocted and his motivations and thought processes is not a valid response to anything, but usually it's your knee-jerk one.

I have no idea what your motivations are and your thought processes are probably foreign to any logical person. But I do know what you say on this Bored. Every so often you will wave the flag, cite the Constitution, say a pox upon both their houses as being part of the swamp...

And then, like the groundhog, you will go back into your hole and trot out the Donald Trump and Republican party line over and over. You support people like Trump and Richard Burr over Adam Schiff and Chuck Schumer, whose biggest "crime" appears to be some overheated rhetoric about a Supreme Court justice.

Even after being caught big time in the "coronavirus is no big deal" scam perpetrated by Trump, Fox News, and friends, you still go back to defending everything he says or does and saying that it's the batphone out to get Trump. The worst thing I have ever heard you say about Trump is that he should be a bit more civil and mature in his tweets, but as far as policy goes, you're a huge rubber stamp. You remind me of Earl Browder, who was the head of the American Communist Party in the early 1940s. He kept hollering about how evil the Nazis were and how FDR should do more about them right up until Stalin signed the non-aggression pact with Hitler. Then he conveniently ignored everything he'd been preaching just a month earlier. Then again, when Hitler invaded Russia, he changed his tune again. With you it's whatever Trump says or does at the time is great, and whenever someone points out the inconsistencies, it's fake news and people out to change the results of the 2016 election. I've got news for you Flock. In another six months we will change the results of that election for the better. (I await another flood of non-funny senile Joe Biden jokes. At least we've heard the end of crazy socialist Bernie Sanders jokes.)

Senator Feinstein's stock is in a blind trust, so she's not the one who made the decision to sell.

Also, the sales were of biotechnology stocks that have gone up in value, so the sale actually cost her money -- she'd have been better off if her trustee had held the stock. --Bob

Actually, you're wrong about that. Congress changed that law. Senator Burr was one of the few people in Congress to vote against the change. --Bob

Funny how Senator Feinstein was omitted from your outrage. I'm sure it was just a coincidence her husband dumped millions.

Funny how the right's first response to this enormous scandal is a flat-out lie, and one that's defamatory of Senator Feinstein.

Tucker Carlson, of all people, has called on Senator Burr to resign and await prosecution.

But I guess as an elected Republican official you only care about lawbreakers who run for office with a D after their names. Just like most of the rest of the elected Republicans, and far too many of their voters. --Bob

You have severe comprehension problems, among innumerable others.
