NFL Approves New CBA with 17-Game Season

This may be the closest to a real sports story we get for a while. The players union has approved the new collective bargaining agreement which will run through the 2030 season, or roughly until the end of Tom Brady's career. Among the highlights:
-- A 17-game season beginning in 2021 at the earliest; maximum of 10 international games per season.
-- Playoffs expand to 14 teams beginning with 2020 season probably; only one first-round bye per conference
-- Minimum salary and player's share of revenue increases
-- Players with existing long-term contracts will get a 1/17 salary boost in any 17-game season
-- Active gameday rosters expand from 46 to 48 players, one of whom must be an extra offensive lineman
-- Practice squads increase from 10 to 12 players, 14 players in 2022. Two practice squad players can be elevated to the 53-man active squad each week and sent back without having to clear waivers.
-- Changes to the drug program to emphasize clinical care; suspensions for first time users reduced in some cases
--Commissioner's power to discipline players reduced; more cases to go to arbitration.
