Farewell, CaseyGrrl...
My SweetiePie CaseyGrrl went over the rainbow bridge this afternoon after a long period of physical and mental decline, and fortunately I remembered that back in the day she used to post some. She was so bright and lively, she lightened our lives for almost 17 years.
I'll tell one of my favorite stories in memoriam, and Casey gave an abbreviated version here as well. She and I were on a hike down a long-abandoned stock trail. She was about 30 yards in front as usual, because her first duty was to protect Mom no matter what. She caught a whiff of a small bear behind a bush about 30 yards ahead of her and went screaming into action, running full throttle and barking at the top of her lungs. A small dog is no match for even a small bear, so I screamed Casey! at the top of my lungs, and for once good sense prevailed, and she came trotting back. The bear vanished down the ridge, never to be seen again . . . by me or Casey, anyway.
I'm missing her like crazy. I'm glad I looked up those posts.

Sprots, my deepest condolences are with you. Casey was a beautiful, wonderful girl who will be missed greatly. Thank God that you had her in your life for as these past years. Lizbit and Wiki join me in sending you hugs and love.
According to Lizbit, who seems to know these things, Tigger met her at the bridge and promptly took her to Annie and BeBe for playtime and snacks. She is in great company.

Thanks very much to all of you for your condolences. I still can't talk about it without breaking up, but it looks like I can type about it.
Special thanks to all of you who reminded me about the frens Casey had here. It was a joy to meet Lizbit and BeBe, and I wish I could have met more.
SC reminded me of one more thing I'd forgotten. Annie named her dance captain for the opera -- a perfect role for my little herder girl. And I still have her Four-Footer certificate somewhere . . .
