The company that advertised unlimited movie admissions for $10 a month (an offer that kept getting scaled back) filed for bankruptcy today. The company thus becomes the latest to learn that selling a lot of items on which you lose small amounts of money apiece is not a successful business model. However, as this article points out, MoviePass led to AMC and Regal adopting their versions of the same promotion. Of course, Mrs. SSS and I have enjoyed our own version of Moviepass for nearly 30 years, since we get into virtually every theater in town on our pass, which is a charitable promotion.
