Mexico Is Paying for Trump’s Wall

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad:
Wayne Root wrote:President Donald Trump has done it again. He just keeps winning. He just keeps proving the Trump Doctrine works magnificently.

Don’t look now, but Trump has even built his wall — and Mexico is paying for it. More on that later.

First, I want to explain how and why Trump is winning like no president in history. Even UFC legend Conor McGregor just called President Trump the GOAT — as in “the greatest of all time.”

It’s all because of the Trump Doctrine, a mixture of Trump’s unique business acumen and negotiating skills. No other politician in the world has this combination of traits.

Like McGregor, Americans can see Trump is getting tangible results.

First, the economy. Trump has created an economic miracle and a true Goldilocks economy. It’s perfect. It’s just right.

Trump knows jobs. We have millions of jobs. He knows how to get things moving. We’ve seen a dramatic bump in economic growth. He focuses with laser-like intensity on the middle class. We’re enjoying dramatic middle-class wage growth. He understands stocks.

We’re in the midst of one of the greatest stock markets of all time. Yet there’s virtually no inflation. This is the perfect economy.

Second, Trump understands the art of the deal. Actually, he wrote the book on it. America is the economic engine of the world. Every country in the world needs us more than we need it. Without our consumers, the world is out of business.

So Trump understands America is in the driver’s seat. We are in the perfect position to make demands. The rest of the world has no choice but to blink. Under Trump, we are no longer the world’s doormat.

We won with China. Trump brought the country to its knees. China came back to the table and capitulated. It was a massive victory for the U.S. economy, small business, manufacturers, farmers, energy companies and American jobs.

We won with Iran. Iran responds only to strength. Trump flexed America’s muscle. Not only did Iran cave like a paper tiger but the Iranian people were also emboldened. Trump inspired them to rise up against their evil leaders. Iranian protesters days ago refused to step on an American flag. Trump’s strength has changed the world.

Now we get to Mexico. Illegal immigrant crossings nationwide are down almost 80%. At the Arizona-Mexico border, illegal crossings are down by 94%. Once-overcrowded dorms, where we house illegal border crossers, are now empty. And Mexico is keeping illegals who demand asylum on their side of the border. It’s another huge Trump victory.

How did he do it? Trump won a masterful negotiation with Mexico. Trump understood Mexico needs us far more than we need it. We could make its economy crumble in a nanosecond. Mexico blinked, just like China and Iran.

Faced with tariffs and economic ruin, Mexican officials agreed to place thousands of troops, at their expense, at both their northern and southern borders. Suddenly, no one can get through. A Mexican journalist just named this human wall of Mexican troops “Trump’s Wall.”

So, in fact, Trump has built the wall, a human wall. And Mexico is paying for it. Bravo.
Past politicians let the world step all over America and U.S. workers. There’s a new sheriff in town. He’s a businessman who understands we are the greatest nation in world history, ever blessed by God. And we are in a position of strength to make demands and win negotiations with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

That’s the real Trump Doctrine. #WINNING.

What's sad about it is how little of it is true and how much of it Trump tankers like you and Root accept as gospel.

But at least you've found a new source for your Trump adulatory material.

He said he would negotiate a better trade deal with China. He is doing that. Do you dispute that?
Iran has backed down from escalation, and the Iranian people are protesting en masse against their dicatators. And for once they know they have our support. Do you dispute that?
Illegal border crossings are way down, and Mexico is enforcing their borders. Do you dispute that?

The author may be a little effusive with his/her praise, but the Obamaphiles were just as annoying to those if us who disagreed with him. But, guess what? Obama wasn't impeached by those who disagreed with his policies. Do you dispute that?

Yes, I dispute the economy is doing very well. The national debt has grown by a trillion dollars in each year of trump's reign. If you and your wife kept borrowing money and lived high on the hog, I suppose you could say you were doing well, but your day of reckoning would come. How many billions are going to farmers to compensate them for the tariffs?

Do we, in fact, have a better trade deal with China? How so? Give me an example.

Iran isn't escalating overtly, but what are they doing covertly? The Iranians aren't protesting lately, they don't give a shit that we have their back; they still hate us.

Illegal border crossings are down because the word is out that we're violating international law and returning them to Mexico. Since there are no new walls, that has nothing to do with it. Who can show Mexico is enforcing its borders? Are there any photos or video showing that happening?

In the meantime, America has become the world's laughing stock.

A more accurate statement is that the stock market is doing well. For people who don't have large stock portfolios, that's small comfort. Unemployment is down, but a lot of people are still stuck in low paying jobs. Student loan debt and medical debts are still huge.

So, the economy is going well for those on top, not so well for those who are just trying to get by.

Ironic that you should bring up the debt. As far as I remember, you have shown no concern over the national debt until today. I thought Paul Krugman said it didn't matter?
It's always been a major concern of mine and still is. But tell me, BJ, who controls every penny of the federal purse strings? One clue: it ain't the President. However, a robust economy does help lessen the damage a little. Especially one with low inflation. But something has to be done about it. And congress, whether controlled by dems or repubs, have shown no interest in doing anything about it. That's why I support the Convention of the States to, among other things, create an amendment requiring a balanced budget. All you will do is complain about it only when it serves your purposes.

You show by your own comments you know nothing about Iran. Are we in WWIII, like all your batphone friends said we would be right now? I must have missed that. Meanwhile, Iran's regime is in turmoil with their population overtly showing their displeasure. I don't know what will happen and neither do you. But your ilk said the same things when Reagan showed strength against the USSR. Nuff said.

Tell me what's in the phase one agreement with China you disagree with? YOU. not the batphone.

Trump HAS gotten Mexico to help by enforcing their own borders. And he has built hundreds of miles of new and refurbished walls. And illegal entry IS down.

Yes you dispute these things, but not with facts. Just opinions, which are like assholes. Everybody's got one. Some have more than one

I have just one comment: If "Mexico is paying for the wall", why has the Department of Defense reallocated funds from base infrastructure projects such as renovating schools, in order to pay for the wall. Believe me, I know. For what it's worth, in the last fiscal year the U.S. spent nearly $2 billion on the wall.

Trump's actions in Iran are equivalent to an arsonist setting a fire and then racing in to put it out after half the house burns down.

We had a working agreement with Iran. Trump pulled the plug, which is what escalated the tensions in the first place. The protests in Iran (which have died down considerably since the initial uproar) were more the result of the Iranian government shooting down the civilian airliner and then lying about it (there should be a lesson here about governments lying to their people). When Soleimani died, he was hailed as a hero in Iran. So, unless you want to claim that Trump somehow tricked the Iranians into shooting down a civilian airliner, then anything he did or said had little to do with the protests.

As far as border crossings are concerned, any figures are somewhat misleading since we can only count the number who are apprehended, not those who get across undetected. But border apprehensions had been on a steady decline since about 2005 under Bush and Obama. Then in 2018 and early 2019, they took a huge spike, before they've gone down again in recent months. So, once again, Trump takes credit for returning something to the way it was before he took office.

Trump (and you) have a funny habit of taking victory laps for everything that he can spin as being good and denying any responsibility for anything that goes wrong.

Just an aside, but what does the DOD have to do with renovating schools?
Again, most of today's harshest critics of building a wall on our southern borders were all in on it just a few short years ago. What changed? Methinks it was a change in political winds. Will a wall help? Is it worth the money? I don't know. But I am all for stopping people from coming tov his country illegally. And just a few short years ago, most everyone was. What changed? I think you know.

Many Army posts have a dependent school for the children of military personnel. Both Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell in Kentucky are examples.

I can't speak for "most" or "most everyone". I've never been in favor of a wall.

Well, as usual youthinks wrong. American attitudes towards illegal immigration have been steadily improving, but that hasn't happened in the last three years. It's a trend that's been going on for about 25 years now. Trump's rather cruel treatment of immigrants may have accelerated that trend, but that's more a reaction to what he's done rather than an automatic anti-Trump response.

If you would actually check on facts instead of Breitbart dogma before engaging your fingers to type messages on this Bored, you'd be a far more informed person.

Portion of US border wall in California falls over in high winds and lands on Mexican side

At least it took Trump several months to be made to look like an idiot this time. It took Flock two days.

Let's not forget about the need to keep flood gates through the wall open. For months at a time.

But I guess in a way Donny was right. Mexico really is going to pay for the wall. At least, since it fell onto their territory, I imagine they'll play to clean it up. --Bob

So impeachment was an epic failure. Let's go back to the wall.
Why don't you just chill out and do something fun? Let it go, for God's sake. Resistance is futile.

I don't think it was an epic failure to expose every single Republican Senator as believing that Donny's conduct in office is acceptable.

And there are an awful lot of former Republican House members who might disagree with your belief that resistance is futile I think BiT is reasonably familiar with at least one of them. --Bob

That's all this BS was about. Talk about abuse of power for personal political gain. Your stupid dem leadership has given the repubs all the ammunition it could ever want. I hope they use it wisely.

The only people who are buying this Republican sham cover-up are those like you who have been in the tank for Trump all along. 75% of the public wanted to hear witnesses, and they will be hearing from Bolton, only not under oath, in the months to come. This was about the President abusing the power of his office for personal political gain.

Can he be impeached twice for different crimes?

Good. Let him say what he wants to say. At least we will be able to elect who we want. Not who Fulla and the gang decides we should choose from. Talk about voter suppression. Talk about abuse of power. Talk about election interference. Talk about contempt of a co-equal branch of government. It is true. Everything the dems accuse everyone else of doing is what they themselves are doing.
In the tank. How far in the tank are you?

In the tank. You got the man, keep trying to find a crime. Is Beria still around? The dems can sure use him.I guess Stalin is a great role model for a party that has a communist or two as their front runners.
