With the Project Veritas video of the Bernie staffer endorsing the Gulags dropping today we got a glimpse of a cute young commie.

He is so cute and adorable, he thinks he would be the one deciding who gets sent to the Gulags. rather than being sent there himself as purges continue.

I first read "Gulag Archipelago" about 20 years ago. I found Volume 1 to be a bit of a slog, but I found Volume 2 and Volume 3 to be transcendent. This last fall, I started re-reading it. Volume 1 was much better than I remember, which is probably due to being 53 instead of 33. A few other books jumped in front of it this winter, but I really plan on doing the rest this winter.
Be that as it may, I never dreamed that Gulags (among other things) would become a relevant topic of discussion in our current politics or that many of the supporters of a leading presidential candidate would view the "Gulag Archipelago" as a How-To manual.
I am kidding, of course, we all know that Bernie supporters have never read "Gulag Archipelago."

You're getting a lot of mileage from some stuff said by one Bernie Sanders supporter at a time when he was probably under the influence of something and could well have been encouraged (since we don't have the questions and prompts).
My guess is that whatever position he has in the Sanders campaign, if any, won't last for very long.
On the other hand, in the Trump administration, expressing views like that get you promoted to senior positions:

Once again, you play from the the hate playbook without any comprehension. The operative word is not deprive, but educate. Nobody with any intelligence or common sense should vote for anyone from your party. It's just hard to get people aware and educated about the democrat's raging and constant hypocrisy, corruption and moral bankruptcy going against your ownership of colleges, universities, the msm and people like soros who fund your constant propaganda. You can't possibly prove him wrong because of the way he's set this up. Anyone who votes Democratic by (flock's) definition lacks intelligence or common sense. Which is why he's okay with the concept of depriving people who disagree with him of their vote. --Bob

if anyone is interested, there is a recent 1-volume abridgement of Gulag Archipelago out that is probably more readable than my 3-volume version. I am sure that it eliminates much of the slog but it saves the good parts. Jordan Peterson wrote the forward.
