Weirdly, I've just read two Pulitzer winners lately. Elizabeth Strout, Olive Kitteredge, Olive Again, The Burgess Boys, Amy and Isabelle. Fab writer Seriously.
Just unfinshed A Visit from the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan. SUCKED.
It seems short story compilations are a thing. Strout does it well. Egan needs a slap upside the head, plus ya need at least one character about whom you give one shit.
Tada.

It's good, set in the home front during WWII.
There were quite a few Pulitzer winners that I would never have read otherwise. It's funny how a book can be regarded as the best of the year when it came out, and how only some of those stand the test of time.
