Arizona has lost 77 games so the Diamondbacks cannot win more than 85 games. The Dodgers have won 100 games so Arizona cannot win the National League Western Division. The Cardinals and the Brewers each have won at least 86 games, so the Diamondbacks will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Central Division. Atlanta and Washington each have won at least 86 games so Arizona will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Eastern Division.

It'll be a dry October in the desert. Arizona has been toastified. --Bob

Philadelphia has lost 77 games so the Phillies cannot win more than 85 games. Atlanta has won 96 games so Philadelphia cannot win the National League Eastern Division. Washington has won 87 games so the Phillies cannot finish better than third in the division. St. Louis and Milwaukee each have won at least 86 games so Philadelphia will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Central Division.

No fireworks by the Delaware this year. Philadelphia has been toastified. --Bob

The Cubs have lost 75 games so they cannot win more than 87 games. St. Louis has won 90 games so Chicago cannot win the National League Central Division. Milwaukee has won 88 games so Chicago cannot finish better than third in the division. Atlanta and Washington each have won at least 88 games so Chicago will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Eastern Division.

Time for Chicago to move on to football, basketball, and hockey. The Cubs have been toastified. --Bob

Cleveland has lost 67 games so the Indians cannot win more than 95 games. Minnesota has won 100 games so Cleveland cannot win the American League Central Division. The Yankees and the Rays each have won at least 96 games so the Indians will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the American League Eastern Division. Houston and Oakland each have won at least 96 games so Cleveland will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the American League Western Division.

The Cuyahoga River may catch fire but the Indians did not. Cleveland has been toastified. --Bob

It's too bad that Bob stopped doing his Toastifieds at the end of the regular season.

I will confess that given the Nationals' bullpen struggles pretty much every time they played the Mets, I didn't give them much chance. --Bob

Oh! This is still about baseball. I thought, since Bob has told us repeatedly that he writes the bat phone, that he finally had concluded that Befuddled Joe Biden was toastified in his run for his party's presidential nomination.

With the Nationals making it into the World Series, the only franchise left that hasn't ever won a league pennant is now the Seattle Mariners.
