To the relief of many on both sided, but probably more on the Democrat side. What an embarrassment.

Beto's big mistake: He never got Jon Ossoff's endorsement.

Oh, I don't know, BiT, some Dems found him quite impressive.

I know some who pledged (or at least considered) to donate to him. Says a lot about them.

Not to worry, there are many dumb, shallow and potential socialist dictators left in the dem field.

Mark Sanford has decided to stop running for president, as if anyone knew he was.
He can now go back to south america to see if he can find another bimbo.

Voters aren’t looking for a candidate who’s more right-wing and less moral than Trump.

If they are, then perhaps Don Blankenship will be their choice. He's the coal company executive that Donald Trump once said was "too extreme". Blankenship intends to run as a third-party candidate (no idea what party would have him). He was convicted in the deaths of 29 coal miners in West Virginia and spent a year in jail.

Perhaps because he was worried we would run out of news to post on this thread too quickly, former Mass. governor Deval Patrick has entered the race for the Democratic nomination, joining last week's new entrant Michael Bloomberg. To borrow an analogy from Bob's other Toaster thread, this is the functional equivalent of the Mudville Nine joining the National League in mid-September.

He couldn't have made the announcement at a time less likely to get anybody's attention, which is probably the hallmark of his entire campaign. His three supporters will be very disappointed.

Joe Sestak has ended his presidential run. If you don't live around here, you probably didn't know he had one.

I was indeed surprised to see he had dropped out, because indeed, I did not know he was in the field. Nor who he was or is.

But this is my favorite part of the process: Everyone gets to say what they feel needs saying, and eventually, gracefully get out the way.

And sometimes not so gracefully.

We can now add Montana Governor Steve Bullock to the list:

Is Bullock one of the ones who has a shot at a Senate seat? I'm thinking probably not in Montana, which feels like it would be solid Republican.

My favorite podcast is almost done with weekly episodes on The West Wing, and the episodes near the end aired in 2006; the hosts are mocking TV broadcasters for explaining on air that blue=Dem and red=Rep, but that really only took hold during the 2000 Presidential election, so it was not yet common parlance. Plus, exposition. I'd rather have broadcasters do it than a regular cast member (when Josh explains things to Donna so we in the audience will understand them, we call that a DonnaTella).

Governor Bullock has said he does not intend to run for the Senate. But as Governor Bullock and Senator Jon Tester both have demonstrated, it is possible for Democrats to win state-wide races in Montana. —Bob

Well, we lost Kamala. Still plenty of lunatic socialist assclowns to choose from. The question is which lunatic socialist assclown will the dems settle on? Or will a new lunatic socialist assclown throw his or her hat in the ring?

I guess that now that we're actually in 2020, politicians won't be shy about appearing on this thread. Julian Castro has suspended his campaign.

I wonder if he'll take on John Cornyn for the Senate seat.
