The Texas Longhorns beat the favored Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. But the best clip is from before the game, when Bevo decides to show Uga who's boss.

And just in time, a fitting bookend.

Gunman kills 2 at White Settlement church before 2 members fatally shoot him

Churches where I live couldn’t recruit a volunteer armed security squad even if they wanted to. Then again, there are no towns here named White Settlement.

One of the three houses my daughter manages for some rich guy is in White Settlement; she was in Pasadena. It's a suburb of Fort Worth for those of you who don't know.

Just curious, cause White Settlement was established awhile back, in re Native American whatever, right or wrong. Just wondering about current segregation, demos in PA, Merion, right?

Regardless of nice pictures of William Penn and the Lenape Indians, Native Americans were oppressed here too. And blacks were segregated until that became illegal. But if a place name reflected that shameful past, it would probably be changed.

Interesting article from Vice here, on that very subject. The article does mention a place called "Negro Mountain" in Pennsylvania.

After that article was written, the name of Runaway Negro Creek in Georgia was officially changed to Freedom Creek.
