Well, I'm rooting for Daniel to make $100,000 since he was in the same RoF as who I think is one of the cutest contestants on "Millionaire", who actually won the first round. Also, I think having a contestant who was on PTBAM actually has potential. To me, they're the ones who have more experience. No offense to those of you who didn't go on until Syndicated Millionaire era.

I'm also gonna end up rooting for him because when I saw the $16k question and the answers, I said "Oh, c'mon! Nobody knows this stuff!" Then, he actually the answer to that question, which makes me think he's pretty smart.

I'm rooting heavily for Daniel myself, but that's probably because I know him!

When I lived in Vegas, Daniel and his wife Robin played occasionally on the same NTN Showdown team with me. He's a great guy, and very smart... I knew he'd do well, and he's proven that so far!

I'm ALSO rooting for him because he's one of the few who have gone from J! to BAM and proved that semi-geeky, slightly overweight J! players have worth on BAM. (Daniel was on in '04, pre-KJ.) OK, so he's also a helluva lot funnier than I am...

GO DAN!

$300: Well, the D answer does involve meat...

$25K: Yeah, I also would've asked the audience.

$50K: Nimbus resembles "nebula", which is indeed the Latin word for cloud.

$50K #2: Good thing I never would've seen this question. I would've guessed one of the forts.

On Monday, I'll be looking at the $100K question with 50:50, PAF, and STQ at hand.

Michael Balzary, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is better known by what insect-inspired alias?

A. Ant
B. Beetle
C. Wasp
D. Flea
Turn this around the other way ("Flea's real name is...?"), and it's at least $25K level and probably higher.
16000
The "Leader of the Great September First Revolution of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya" is whom?

A. Muammar Qaddafi
B. Pervez Musharraf
C. Mahmoud Abbas
D. Meles Zenawi
Not so hard if you can find the "Libyan" part in the midst of the other nonsense.
25000
The clothing brand Hollister Co. was launched in 2000 by what well-known fashion retailer?

A. Abercrombie & Fitch
B. American Eagle Outfitters
C. J. Crew
D. Gap
Heard of it, but NAC on the retailer. BD might know it. ATA for me, too.
50000
What type of cloud has a name that means "cloud" in Latin?

A. Cumulus
B. Cirrus
C. Nimbus
D. Stratus
Ouch. Would have guessed stratus if forced into it. Did not recognize the nimbus-nebula connection. Likely STQ for me, too, or at least PAF with a good Googling capability.
50000
In 1906, what became the first US national monument?

A. Fort Sumter
B. Devils Tower
C. Muir Woods
D. Fort McHenry
Oooh, one of those "how do I know that?" questions. Probably came from reviews and columns about "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Was this a Teddy Roosevelt thing?

Does the writing seem better this season, or is it just my own perception? There appears to be much better trivial and otherwise esoteric, but still knowable, information in them than they've had recently.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I believe this is the first bellman who's been on BAM.

Daniel should certainly be able to get this one.

Had this not had the word "Libyan" in it, it would have been a much harder question.

Daniel's J! game isn't in the official archive but someone was able to track it down. The FJ! category was "Famous Felines: and the FJ! answer was "He made his debut in the 1945 short film 'Life with Feathers'".
Spoiler

Daniel had $15K going into FJ!, the Sonja, the second place person had $13K and Brian, the third place person had $9,200. Brian bet all his money and got it right; Sonja also got it right and wagered $5,450 to take the lead. Daniel wagered $11,000 but missed it.

My youngest son is the fashion plate of the family and he told us about this because he likes A&F clothing but not the prices.

This seemed like a fairly easy question for this level, but maybe it's because I work a lot of crossword puzzles and this comes up regularly.

I wouldn't have seen this question but had it been in the stack it would be time to try the 50/50 to see what remains. I couldn't decide between B and D.

25K: No blanking idea. ATA & if they don't know, PAF.

50K: I "know" its Devil's Tower, which used to be on a postage stamp (I remember the discussions of this when Close Encounters came out, & my brother who collected them long ago discussing the stamp) but I would chicken out & STQ this one. And kick myself forever.
