The Big Marathon Post!!!!!1111
Two weeks to go! So excited! I know at least a few BBs are going to come out and watch and you know I'll be looking for y'all. Anyone else who will be in the area should definitely come on out. Something tells me I'm gonna need all the extra boosts I can get.
Before I start, we still need a bunch of help with the fundraising aspect. We're raising money for the Blue Card, a great cause, and we're still a bit short. You can help out online at http://www.imathlete.com/donate/MosheLewisJoeyGutmann. SPECIAL OFFER!!! First two donations (of any amount) will have the opportunity to hijack my avatar and signature for a month!!! You can even make me do something that makes it look as if I'm not awesome....as if that could work...
So the first thing you should do if you're going to be around on race day (or if you just want to keep track of me from afar) is to send an email to joeysmarathontexts2011@gmail.com with your phone/text number. Throughout the race someone (probably my mom or whoever else I can get to do it) will be sending out updates of where I'm at and projections for when I'll be hitting the next mile or two. This way you'll be able to keep up with my location. You should also probably get the Marathon Spectator App but rumor has it that that's been unreliable in the past. In addition, if you have iOS 5, I'll be turning on the new Find My Friends App on my iPhone and y'all can keep up with me that way. More updates on how to access that to come.
Also, read the spectator guide: http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/spectator_guide.htm. Some good stuff in there.
Now the fun part! My bib number is 52509 and I'm in Orange Wave #3 starting at 10:40 am.
The map can be found here: http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/documents ... ForWeb.pdf

I'll print out your estimated times. Great tool for me. Thanks for that.

Amy and I will be on the same train, although we have not chosen the train yet.
I would love to go all the way down to Brooklyn and see him before all three colors merge. Not sure if timing will allow for that though.

All excited for you Clem! For some reason I missed Pea's run but unless something comes up I'll be in NY that day as well. Might try to join Pea and 1111.

I will allow for the possibility that this will work this year, but it didn't last year.
Do not have your peeps rely on it. Have them rely on your race plan.

One of our handbell ringers' partner was running in the Marine Corps Marathon in DC today. She was getting regular updates on her progress thanks to an iPhone app and something attached to the runner's shoe that sent text messages automatically to anyone who wanted to get it, showing time, progress, and projected finish.peacock2121 wrote:I will allow for the possibility that this will work this year, but it didn't last year.

This is all so exciting! It has been fun following along and I wish you the absolute best for your race.
When is the NYC marathon usually held? The reason I ask is because it is sort of funny that it is being held the day we lose daylight savings. Total Seinfeld, eh? I guess it would be worse if this was during the spring time change.

I plan to be there and maybe should coordinate times with Pea/Amy/1111.
I downloaded the app. The tutorial didn't run, then told me I really should not skip over it (possibly just very sloooow internet where I was and I was impatient. Ifinally said skip it).

Now that I found the reason for the "Squirrels from Hell" avatar, I have to find it hilarious that until I noticed the back to back postings here, I just assumed it was uly. Shows you how I often rely on just avatars to tell me who's posting since my eye always catches them when I'm scrolling down a thread...
