The film Dances with Wolves was shot primarily in South Dakota. The main scenes were from Pierre and the Badlands, but this location was along Spearfish Canyon in the Black Hills. The Black Hills was the region I was going for. Since some scenes were in Wyoming and the Black Hills spill into that state, I accepted Wyoming as the alternate state for the correct state credit.
