Well, there are islands without bridges to the mainland, in Chesapeake Bay, for example. But coupling that fact with the sound of the name "Aniakchak" makes Alaska a much more likely answer than Maryland.

I believe Isle Royale National Park is only accessible by boat or plane. But the name almost screams "Alaska".
