No idea what reminded me at this particular point in time. Could have used it for J! last week.
My dad and his brother owned a business making men's leather outerwear, mostly jackets of various styles. I worked there on weekends and summers. The sample size he brought to shows was a 42, and he was very happy when I grew enough to fit that size. The company was one of the very few which could make large sizes, what's now known as "big and tall". It was mostly specialty orders at that time.
Anyway, one day Dad called me in the stockroom and told me to bring out the sample of a particular style to model. I came out wearing the jacket, and looked up at the person interested in the style. And I mean UP. It was Tom Heinsohn, former player but then coach of the Celtics. He is BIG! We got him to order that style and another, I got an autograph (which is who knows where at this point), and I may have a celebrity hook for one show or another. Hmmm.
Every once in a while, I go into a Wilson's Leather store and just inhale. It brings back some really good memories of the company. I often wonder if Dad was disappointed that I showed no inclination to continue in the business (I'm a space age baby, and knew from a young age that I wanted to go into some form of science). I never asked or thought to ask when he was alive.
So you think that New York APs will be impressed by a Celtic anecdote?
