I didn't pass Motor Mouth, but I did qualify for that PPP 3 days later from a payphone at noisy Busch Stadium 5 minutes before the game started, writing down the choices on the back of a folded up piece of paper. I thought for sure it was meant to be.....

I nearly survived Motor Mouth.

I got 4 of 5 correct and just missed the 5th one- I had the order right but fat-fingered the dialing (thought I'd throw another oldie but goodie Bored Term in there!)

I ended up qualifying for the PPP the next night, but did not get called.

4 Round 2 callbacks though- I think only jmcachran might have gotten more.

I hope they bring back the 50/50. In my Hot Seat Fantasy I have both this lifeline and the Double Dip available for the 15th question.

This is one of my greatest frustrations with being unable to get randomly chosen by TPTB: The SuperMillionaire stack with the "Which Indian tribe shared the first Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims?" question at $1MM. That was my chosen tape date, I very possibly would have won the FF for that stack, and I would have been looking at the $2.5MM question with the 50/50 and DD at the ready. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. One gets tired of being an oh-fer.

I still remember the day of the Dursting.

That was one of my selected tape dates, and I was 5/5 in Round Two.

I could've won the FF and gotten to the $1 million on not one, but TWO of the stacks in that show.

PS John Carpenter's tape date was also one I selected and got a R2 callback for...but that was the one where I got the first four questions right, then got a Seinfeld question. I remember saying "I know EVERYTHING about Seinfeld..." while Fred was saying "Arrange these Seinfeld stars in order by age, starting with the youngest, to which I replied "...EXCEPT THAT!!!"

I got the order correct, but I was flustered and entered them in from oldest-youngest.

Oh well...

Thanks for the rules posting, Marley. Judging by current Syndie and past Super rules/eligibility requirements, I guess I'll have to sit this opportunity out. I'm sure I'll still play the Phone Game for fun though, if/when it rolls around.

Marley,

You mentioned the prize table not coming out quite right. If you wrap the text using the "Code" tag(s), it will be printed out in a monospace (each letter the same width) format. Our default font uses proportional spacing (where "i" uses less width than "m") and does not seem to preserve long strings of spaces.

I pasted your table into notepad (which is monospaced) so I could line up the spacing and then pasted it back in between the "" tags. I wasn't sure if it would be preserved properly within a quote, but that seems to have worked as desired, too!

Thanks for the tip. That does help, although it might confuse people seeing the "Code" tag. Since Chad has found the particular information he was looking for (even if it wasn't the answer he wanted) I'll just leave my post unedited, this time, but I'll keep this trick in mind.

Great news! Practice up on those Phone Q's, the last rounds were a little bit tough, not to mention you have to get picked from random if you do pass. 8)

Amazing.

For the first time in five years, I have this feeling that I will have a fair chance ("fair" as in "honest", as opposed to "above average") of parking my hiney in the hot seat. I could not participate in Million Dollar Buddy due to circumstances at work, and I did not consider the cell-phone drawing to be any kind of a chance at all (I know, I had as good a chance as anybody - which is to say "infinitesimal"). Now, though, hope is back to alive.

Bring it on, Fred. I may or - far more likely - may not get there. I'll be trying, though.

(Yes, I know. A lot of people say I am really trying. But I digress...)

So the Reagan and both Bush presidencies wouldn't qualify, huh?

But there are those who are glad they're history.

Eugene, I for one would go on record as one who would pick you as a PAF in a heartbeat, if I weren't cursed by the ghosts of Fred and Motor Mouth (whom I liked to call "Ethel").
