top o' the mornin'®

#1 Post by earendel » Fri Nov 23, 2007 6:38 am

And a happy Black Friday or post-Thanksgiving to one and all. We had a great Thanksgiving, though not as many people showed up as we originally expected (more on that in a moment) for dinner at our house, and our church breakfast attendance was inexplicably down also. As I post this, elwing is out hitting the malls for various sales - she's been on the road since oh-dark-thirty (meaning I have no idea what time she left). She says she actually loves the crowds and such.

Now for the big news - I'm a grandfather. I never thought I'd be one of those stereotyical "ask me about my grandchild" kind of people, and I'm not as bad (yet) as some, but it's a milestone nonetheless. Caden was born on November 21st at 6:08PM after an induced labor of about 8 hours. He's 7 pounds 5 ounces and is 20" long. Mother and child are doing well, but because of the birth, neither she, nor my son, nor her parents, made it to our house. We did take a "people bag" of food down to them at the hospital yesterday evening. elwing took lots of pictures - if I can figure out a way to post them, I'll put a couple up here.

Congratulations, Grandpa earendel! :)

I'm still catching up on the week's threads. Is there one where you tell us which son is the new father?

Yes, I see there was. Congratulations to son #1. (I forget his Elvish name--is that elrond?)

I must have really been tired this morning. I read this post, and must've read right past the big news....

Congratulations, ear!
