My Jeopardy! Tale of Woe

#1 Post by TheCalvinator24 » Sat Nov 01, 2008 4:25 pm

As most of you know, I attended the in-person auditions for Jeopardy! in April 2007. What the vast majority of you don't know is that I got a call from Tony in June 2007 inviting me to come tape on July 18, 2007. There was only one small problem. I had included the dates of July 9-20 as unavailable on the form I filled out at the audition because I was teaching my Community Theatre's children's theatre camp during those 2 weeks.

Tony said he would call me back, and when he did, he said that he was sorry for overlooking the date conflict. Then, he said that he couldn't promise anything, but that he was sure that Maggie would work me into another date soon.

Now, it has been more than 18 months since my audition, and they have not called again.

Looks like I'll have to do the online test again next spring.

Call them back or email Maggie! Really! It might work. Plus there
are enough folks on this bored that know Maggie and they might mention it.

What is ironic is that your involvement in theatre might have been one of the factors to get you throught the inteview process and selected.

Sorry to hear about that Cal.

Dang, to be so close and not make it.

I am surprised they didn't pull you out of the pool again.

Idea:

Why not try contacting the JPTB, explain your situation, and ask them if you should take the test again when it comes around? Who knows...you might get their wheels turning...

Trevor got the call 21 months after auditioning, so I would not give up completely just yet.

And huge kudos, BTW, for standing by your commitment to the kids!

I agree with everyone - you should contact Tony or Maggie and remind them. You have nothing to lose by doing so.

Absolutely. Nothing to lose.

If they can't get you in this time, take the test again, and I would put money up that they make sure you get on.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Definitely give contacting them a try. They do try to be reasonable about these things.

Last week, I was able to find out from them with a very quick turn-around time that being a PAF does not impinge on J! eligibility. I'm not saying that contacting them will lead directly to an appearance on the show, but it might help and is very unlikely to hurt.

And look, in a true nonpartisan gesture, I'm giving hopefully helpful advice to someone with political views vastly different than mine.

Marty, call them back. Explain to them that you spoke to Tony Pandolfo. It is quite possible that you were lost in the shuffle.

There is nothing to lose.

Good luck!
